Woman Crush Wednesday #6.06

Michelle Heyman

Happy Hump Day lovers! We’re taking this opportunity of #WomanCrushWednesday to appreciate the amazing queer women in sport, one of them, in particular, being Michelle Heyman; soccer player for the Australian’s Women’s Soccer Team the Matildas.

The 2016 Olympian began playing soccer at the ripe age of 11yo and has since become a queer icon, not only sport, but in fashion as well. Heyman recently launched her own brand of genderless clothing that just oozes with queer class!

Another thing that makes this gal great is that she’s a HUGE advocate for self-acceptance and authenticity, which we are all for here at The Impy! Her motto “be you” is a core value we hold very close to our hearts – we adore seeing all you lovers outshine our disco balls with your individual rainbow light!

As well as being a style icon and an ambassador for Rainbow Laces (an organisation that spreads awareness of homophobia in sport), she also was the proud winner of the Australian LGBTI Sports Personality of the Year award last year! Winning a trophy for just being your awesome, queer-advocating, fabulous self?? Now that’s our kind of award. It fills our gay little hearts with joy seeing such strong, positive role models in Australian sport!

So from all at The Imperial, we wish you a happy #WomensCrushWednesday #HumpDay lovers!
